Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal Decompression therapy is a revolutionary non-invasive treatment for low back, neck and nerve pain that radiates down the arms and legs. Not to be confused with traction, Spinal Decompression Therapy is successful in relieving pain associated with disc herniation/compression and Osteoarthritis. Decompression therapy may also provide a less invasive alternative for patients indicated for surgical intervention.

  • Disc Bulges/herniation’s/Protrusions

  • Disc compression/Degeneration (DDD)

  • Sciatica/nerve pain

  • Stenosis

  • Post-surgical pain

  • Lumbar/Cervical radiculopathies

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Arm/leg pain and numbness

How does it work?

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression slowly lengthens and decompresses the spine, creating negative pressures within the discs. This reversal of pressure creates a vacuum inside the discs that can help reposition bulging discs and draw extruded disc material back into place, taking pressure off pinched nerves. Throughout a series of Spinal Decompression treatments a disc is taken further into a negative pressure until the desired result is obtained.

Based on years of results and thousands of patients treated with Spinal Decompression, current research shows overall success rate to be around 80-89% . We consider this success rate to be very good considering most of our patients have “tried everything else” with minimal or no relief, and have experienced significant pain for an extended period of time

Is Spinal Decompression Therapy safe?

Spinal Decompression Therapy is one of the most gentle and safe spinal treatment available. The latest Spinal Decompression technology and equipment has a proven high level of safety and efficacy.

In most cases, Spinal Decompression treatment is not contra-indicated for patients that have had spinal surgery. In fact many patients have found success with Spinal Decompression even after a failed back surgery. After a failed Laminectomy or Micro Discectomy, patients may still respond favourably to spinal decompression.

Although relatively new in Australia, test case results from the US where this treatment has been available for several years have shown this treatment to be successful in 86% of cases.*

How is Spinal Decompression Therapy different to traditional traction therapy?

Traction does not provide the special logarithmic movement, systematically increasing and decreasing the decompression the way that our state of the art spinal decompression table does.

This cycle of movement is a critical part of the success of this therapy, as it brings the essential oxygen and nutrients to the area to help it heal.

A common side effect of traditional traction therapy is muscle splinting and guarding during treatment, impeding decompression. The spinal decompression table does not allow your muscles to splint or guard as the seven sensors on the table are continually monitoring the muscles in the target area, maximizing decompression without side effects.
